Woody Creek Tavern is a landmark restaurant and bar located in the rural community of Woody Creek, situated along the Roaring Fork River northwest of Aspen, Colorado. Established in 1980, the tavern instantly became a locals’ joint and watering hole for Woody Creek residents, maintaining its down-home and casually comfortable atmosphere for over 40 years. The venue sits along a county road, somewhat concealed from Highway 82, adjacent to the core of this funky, rural community.

The Woody Creek Tavern features American, Latin, and Argentine-influenced cuisine served in a space adorned with more than four decades of accumulated memorabilia forming a multilayered collage of decor. Polaroids paper the walls beneath a pressed-tin ceiling that ricochets warm laughter and conversation throughout the dining area. The tavern serves as a gathering place where guests encounter colorful characters while enjoying food and drinks in an atmosphere that contrasts with the faster-paced development happening a few miles east in Aspen.

Woody Creek Tavern operates seven days a week, opening at 11 am and remaining open until close each day. The location serves as the centerpiece of the Woody Creek community, where the creek exits a canyon and joins the Roaring Fork River. The surrounding area features an eclectic collection of properties ranging from modest older homes and trailer parks to newer upscale structures, mansions, and ranches that line the Woody Creek Valley extending toward the old mining and logging community of Lenado. The tavern has maintained its identity as a casual, welcoming establishment where locals and visitors gather for meals and drinks in an environment rich with history and character.
