A backcountry hike from the Castle Creek Valley near Aspen, about 8.5 miles one-way through aspen groves and wildflower meadows to natural hot spring pools at 11,200 feet with Conundrum Peak as the backdrop. It’s a full-day or overnight trip (permit required in summer), and it’s one of the most-searched hikes in the entire valley, a different flavor than Maroon Bells/Capitol Peak since it’s a reward-at-the-end hike rather than a summit push.
Snowmass Lake
Snowmass Lake sits at nearly 11,000 feet within Colorado’s Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness, directly below the rugged faces of Hagerman Peak and Snowmass Mountain.
