Aspen Trout Guides is Aspen’s oldest guide service permitted to fish the rivers and lakes in the White River National Forest, teaching thousands of visitors the art of fly fishing in the high streams, rivers, and lakes of the Aspen area since 1981. Based out of Hamilton Sports Pro Shop in Aspen, the company provides fully outfitted half-day and full-day fly fishing trips on Gold Medal waters with experienced guides who take anglers off the beaten path to locations not accessible to all guide services. The extensive White River National Forest permit grants access to exclusive bodies of water including the Upper Fryingpan, Ruedi Reservoir with winter ice fishing, Crystal River, Thomas Lakes, Diemer and Sellar Lakes, Lyle and Morman Lakes, Williams Lake, Anderson and Petroleum Lakes, Maroon Creek and Lake, Castle Creek, Lincoln Creek, Upper Roaring Fork, Grizzly Reservoir, Lost Man Reservoir, Hunter Creek, Geneva Lake, Little Gem Lake, Terrell Lake, and Blue Lake.

Aspen Trout Guides offers half-day and full-day wade trips on White River National Forest Service permit areas and private waters, half-day and full-day float trips with all equipment and delicious lunches included, custom overnight trips, and stocked ponds for children’s half-day adventures. Equipment provided includes graphite rods, Gore-Tex waders, and felt-soled boots. The guides handle logistics and provide personalized instruction from casting techniques to understanding local insect hatches, making trips educational and engaging for anglers of all skill levels. One-on-one casting clinics are available for specialized fly casting instruction on the Roaring Fork and Frying Pan rivers, allowing participants to learn from experienced professionals at some of the finest fishing spots in the country.
