Colorado Extreme Hockey

Colorado Extreme Hockey Association is a youth hockey organization serving the Roaring Fork Valley, established in 2021 with a mission to give every child the chance to discover and fall in love with hockey. The association focuses on breaking down financial barriers by offering free Learn to Skate and 6U/8U programs, while heavily subsidizing 10U-18U travel programs to make hockey accessible to all families regardless of background.

Since it’s founding, Colorado Extreme has impacted the lives of more than 500 players, providing over 300 sets of gear and introducing countless children to the game. The organization maintains three locations serving different communities. The first rink at 2340 County Road 100 in Carbondale serves as a hub for U6, U8, U10, and U12 teams, plus the learn-to-skate program. The second location at the Garfield County Fairgrounds in Rifle grew to over 300 players in the first season, offering Learn to Skate, Mites, 10U, and 12U teams on one full-size outdoor rink. The newest location in Craig features Colorado Extreme’s first-ever indoor rink, offering Learn to Skate through 18U teams.

The coaching staff boasts impressive credentials, with each coach having NHL or NCAA hockey experience. By combining their expertise and passion for the sport, coaches are committed to developing not only better hockey players but also stronger leaders and teammates. The organization has built a culture of excellence and mentorship, teaching lessons that serve players both on and off the ice.

The association runs seasonal programs and summer camps designed for youth hockey players throughout the year. Programs accommodate different age groups and skill levels, welcoming both beginners and experienced young players in an inclusive environment where kids develop ice skating abilities and hockey techniques under qualified instruction. Learn to Skate sessions remain completely free, and 6U/8U programs continue to provide gear, coaching, and ice time at no cost to families. While 10U-18U travel programs include fees, they are largely subsidized so more families can participate in competitive hockey without prohibitive costs.
