Dance Aspen

Dance Aspen is a nonprofit contemporary dance company in Aspen, Colorado, established in 2021 by a group of dancers led by Laurel Winton in response to the dissolution of the Roaring Fork Valley’s professional dance company. The grassroots effort quickly garnered local support, with a sold-out debut performance at the Wheeler Opera House. Rooted in the principles of collaboration, community, and artistic excellence, Dance Aspen has developed a significant reputation showcasing internationally renowned choreographers and creating over 30 world premieres. The company has performed on prominent stages including the Vail Dance Festival and Aspen Music Festival, demonstrating dedication to producing new contemporary dance while enhancing the cultural vibrancy of the Aspen area.

Dance Aspen offers adult dance classes for beginners and lifelong movers to reconnect with their bodies and experience dance firsthand. Jazz classes with Tyler are held on Monday nights, ballet classes with Jonah are offered Monday and Wednesday mornings, and weekend ballet is available on Saturdays. Classes have no dress code and participants can wear comfortable movement clothing such as yoga wear, gym sweats, or leotards and tights. Ballet shoes are recommended but socks are acceptable. Drop-in classes are $32, 5-class passes are $145, and 10-class passes are $275. Class passes are valid for all Dance Aspen adult classes for one year, with cancellations required at least 24 hours before class to avoid charges.

Dance Aspen relies on community support and donations to continue its mission of supporting local artists and promoting cultural programming. The organization hosts regular performances and events that engage audiences of all ages, combining entertainment with artistic education.
