Launchpad Carbondale Description

The Launchpad is a community arts venue and creative facility located in downtown Carbondale, Colorado, at 76 South 4th Street. The Launchpad serves as a central space for performing and visual arts in the Roaring Fork Valley through a partnership between Dance Initiative and Carbondale Arts. Designed to support artists, educators, and community members, The Launchpad provides accessible space for creation, instruction, rehearsal, exhibition, and performance across multiple disciplines.

The Launchpad functions as both an active performance venue and a working arts hub. Programming includes live music, theater productions, dance performances, rehearsals, workshops, gallery exhibitions, and community gatherings held throughout the year. Events range from intimate studio showings to larger public programs, supporting both local artists and visiting performers. The facility also houses the Carbondale Arts Gallery and Promenade, a 774-square-foot enclosed gallery that presents rotating exhibitions curated by Carbondale Arts, helping bring visual arts back into Carbondale’s Main Street corridor.

Inside, The Launchpad features two professional-grade performing arts studios available for public rental. Studio C is an enclosed space with 680 square feet of spring-loaded Harlequin dance flooring, ballet barres, and mirrors, designed for professional movement-based training. The Open Studio offers approximately 1,150 square feet of spring-loaded flooring with rigging for aerial silks and other aerial arts, and can also be adapted for small performances. Studio rentals are available in fifteen-minute increments with a forty-five-minute minimum, and reservations can be made from twelve hours up to five months in advance.

Additional on-site features include the Artique, a curated gift shop offering artist-made goods and books, and the Betty Jane Schuss Memorial Gardens. The outdoor grounds include edible and medicinal landscaping, a small amphitheater, sculpture installations, community garden areas, and gathering spaces open for public use. The Launchpad is open for visits Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and serves as the administrative home for Carbondale Arts and its Creative District operations, reinforcing The Launchpad’s role in Carbondale’s cultural and economic life.
