Stoneyard Distillery is a veteran-founded, farm-to-flask craft distillery operating out of two locations in the Glenwood Springs area, with a tasting room on Grand Avenue in downtown Glenwood Springs and a production facility in Dotsero that sits directly on a 4,000-year-old lava flow from the Dotsero Volcano. That geological detail is not incidental: the owners hand-built their distillation equipment and pack the still with chunked volcanic lava rock, which serves as the vapor refining medium during distillation. Rocky Mountain water is drawn directly from the Colorado River through a private water system at the Dotsero site, just above the confluence of the Eagle and Colorado Rivers. Production began in 2014, and the distillery took its name from the historic stone yard that previously occupied the property.

The spirits lineup at Stoneyard Distillery is built entirely around Colorado sugar beets, producing what the distillery describes as beet sugar spirits, a category that yields a clean, molasses-free base distinctly different from cane-derived spirits. From that foundation, Stoneyard Distillery has developed a range of small-batch expressions including cinnamon-infused elixirs, horchata blends, and Colorado sage-infused gins, all using locally sourced ingredients. The result is a portfolio that reflects both the agricultural character of the Western Slope and the specific mineral and water profile of the Colorado River watershed.

Visitors can sample the lineup at the dog-friendly Grand Avenue tasting room in downtown Glenwood Springs, which functions as the public-facing hub for the brand and sits within easy walking distance of the broader downtown district. The Dotsero production facility offers a more hands-on look at where the spirits are actually made, giving guests direct access to the distillation environment and the volcanic terrain that defines Stoneyard Distillery’s production process. The distillery also participates in the Harvest Hosts network, welcoming overnight RV stays at the Dotsero location.
