Wheeler-Stallard Museum  Description

Wheeler-Stallard Museum offers visitors a chance to experience the height of Aspen’s Victorian-era boom inside a stunning Queen Anne-style home built around 1887-1888 by Jerome B. Wheeler. Located at 620 W. Bleeker Street, the museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12 PM to 5 PM with free admission. Dogs are welcome on the grounds but must be leashed at all times. The museum is closed Friday July 4th, December 25th, December 31st, and January 1st.

Step into the first floor to explore a meticulously restored Victorian Aspen home featuring immaculate replica wallpapers, period furniture, and ornate decor including a piano once played by Albert Schweitzer. The second floor gallery showcases Decade by Decade: Aspen Revealed, a rotating exhibition running through Spring 2026 that traces Aspen’s transformation from mining boom town to dilapidated ranching community to today’s international resort. Photographs and artifacts connect Aspen’s history to national events and trends, revealing how this mountain town forged its unique identity. Knowledgeable docents and welcome videos provide local history primers, answer questions, and share stories about the families who lived in this storied house.
